It is a reader, what I do to save - and map pounds - and nothing else will. That's what I think about how. The Kindle is designed to make it as easy as possible to buy from Amazon, that his main reason for existence. Amazon also discourages you from your eBooks elsewhere by them to Amazon to be converted. It's none of that nonsense with the Opus - you just join, and add the books you want.

Bookeen has been about much more than the Kindle, and for a long time it was one of the few readers that could be purchased in U.S. states such that it has developed quite a loyal following in international circles.

However, Bookeen has a high degree of loyalty of their customers through the introduction of faulty software and firmware updates that promise delivered when, are often more than a year later than previously announced lost. Sony and Kindle, however, both have major upgrades via firmware within the first year of ownership (I had all three - at this point the Kindle DX my readers the choice with the Sony's) is a close seconds.

I like things on the Cybook:

1. The ePub support means you have a very large number of bookstores and public libraries to purchase from which your reading material (though Amazon Kindle titles will not work.

2. SD slot - provides a mechanism for the organization by fiction books on an SD card and not fiction on another, or other "file" you can imagine.

3. Screen - because Cybook is the touch screen is given fashion (like Sony), the display clear and very easy to read.

4. Interface is easy to use and look of the device is stylistically "pure." I think that iphone with the whole thing, and buttons are downgraded, this reader has minimal buttons, but that does not affect usability.

Things I do not like about the Cybook:

1. Firmware buggy and tends Bookeen is not big on fixing this error ... E-mail if you need technical support, and if you want an answer, it will probably be informed that a workaround is available, and there is a firmware update "soon". However, if you read article, one of the mobile forums, you'll find that these firmware updates are vaporware.

2. Price of 5-inch Opus is not competitive - however, that the exchange rate and do not really blame can be attributed to Bookeen.

3. Screen size - that's just my personal preference but I prefer the other properties that a bigger screen (even 6 inches makes a significant difference) provides ... If you're like me at the age of middle, you are probably notice at the outset that it only read a little bit easier if you increase the font size. I know many disagree with me on this - they want something that is smaller and more "portable", so again have that is very much a personal preference thing ...

4. ePub - the older reader Cybook supports Mobi (forerunner of the Amazons AZW format), a far superior format in terms of size and legibility. I personally am not wild about the EPUB format, but to win, unfortunately not always the best format standards battle (such as Sony - they are painfully aware of!)

5. Post-sales support is abysmal. Again, just do a search on Cybook firmware upgrade and you will always see fundamentally new frustrations with customers dumping their eReaders out of sheer frustration because Bookeen so little regard for current customers, and appears only in the acquisition of new interests.

If you would like a smaller reader, I think there are better opportunities out there - like the Astak Inc Astak 5-inch Pocket Pro (Blue) EZ-reader or even the Sony Reader Digital Pocket Edition - Silver (PRS300SC), and they have a proven track record for supporting their products.

It is small but sufficiently sized and makes a good portable. He came with a protective case to case.

I loaded it with a large number of files to test it and after the second meeting of uploading files to the device, some files were not readable. Next, I have a USB cable that I know is good, instead of the one that comes with the work, and also draws power from 2 USB slots instead of one (not that I needed because I unit charged before use of IT). Was not sure if they have an influence on things, but then I formatted it again, this time with FAT32, and there were no bad blocks. Perhaps the cable that came with the work, was shaky, or maybe usb opus switches to power, and when attached to a USB port was not easy to give sufficient power.

Unfortunately, I do not know if the internal memory is fully functional, now that I collect a 2 gig card I had MSD dust made, and nothing so far to get back corrupt. Everything I in the internal flash memory for now, a set of fonts. (supports different fonts, they must be placed only in the Fonts folder).

If you do this: Back up the contents of the device before you do anything else. The device will not return to what it needs, they should get wiped, you will only lose the free books, it comes with.

Except that the device is nice, it does not support a few formats (that's the reason why I selected) is working well with a 2-gig MSD card. Invites (I created in Flash, if I feel happy and bored).

Only improvements I would make is to add a wrist strap of some kind, because I am afraid that I will drop him.

Overall, a good compact unit, hopefully my fs corruption only event was either a bad USB cable to the device or simply came just a happy coincidence.

I had to ignite the first generation. This has ignited a lot better than 1. Much better reading experience, take a very long battery, and look better. Also, PDF files, shows well, and support all major formats ebook. But no wireless connection, which I do not care. EBooks you can see in other places.
