Rating: 3Summary: A Disappointment That Could of Been Avoided
I have several Sony products and most of the excess above and beyond my expectations. However, I do not want to count my Sony Reader at them. I bought my readers about a month ago in Las Vegas from a kiosk. The guy was pretty rude and obviously in a hurry to buy a product, but I was looking for the reader so on a whim, I decided to try get the Sony Reader. I've learned my lesson. While the product itself is pretty good, but lacking in some aspects:
The loading time of pages and on / off is incredibly slow for a product 2009th I swear, my phone has more RAM than this (Sony Ericsson have haha btw). Secondly, the online store absoutely horrible and the selection is poor and hypocrtical. What I mean by that? You can buy Tom Sawyer, or get it free, depending on the search, as you later. This plus numerous spelling and grammatical errors plague the entire store. A disgrace for a Fortune 500 company. Subsequently, the actual configuration of the reader, such as iTunes itself will be terrible. Syncing takes forever and always freezes and fails. Shop purchased books for the first time to take a ridiculously long time and I have no idea why an update was not determined at this time. I have another sample of someone else or Nook Kindle I can not imagine that they are not worse than this. My girlfriend is looking for a reader for school, which I definitely do not recommend buying this product.

Rating: 5Summary: A Fantastic Idea in a Great Package
I have this unit for about a week in possession and I absolutely love it. I am an avid reader and love of jumping back and forth between books and articles on a particular day, and I think that the reader do a great idea. I love the way the font size if you need to change, and the fact that the E Ink process ensures you do not burn your eyes for hours of reading. I have not run the battery down, which also fantastic. The size and weight of the device are ideal for the implementation and operation (it feels about the same weight as a 400-page hardcover) book. I recommend this unit to anyone who is about or interested in an ever asks, (a recent visit to the local ER saw me, shows the device to a nurse and recommendit there is to it).

Rating: 4Summary: A Great Reader
The Sony Reader Digital Pocket Edition does exactly what it is supposed to. It is easy to use and has a two-week battery life. The two weeks of "constants" reading. I have never any of the other digital reader so I can not compare, but it has certainly met all my expectations.

Rating: 4Summary: A handy little gizmo!
So far I am enjoying my Reader. It is a great way to bring a few books to carry the park and in the holidays (they always tend to think are most, I unwieldy, so this is great). And since I read up to classics like, it's nice for me that offer thousands of free multiple libraries older books.
Yes, I know - for a couple, a few hundred more would have, I have a full color, backlit faster, 3G, etc etc readers - I did not want to spend so much did, so I budget for my research and figured that this one would fit the bill. I did not want something too large, so that an IPAD or the new Kindle more have simply not worked for me.
I wish that the screen was bigger (it's so much space on this thing, a larger screen could be wasted.
Also, especially when you read in the sun, I do not recommend the silver one - is perhaps the most brilliant black, the same, but I find that you have to do to position them so that the glare bouncing off not by the sun the metal surface and your eyes hurt. But I used that to a white page in a book so that I do not see how much of a negative. And my husband thought it stupid to buy something, it was a book light in a dark room, but as I read almost never necessary in clip light situations anyway, that does not phase me. And when I need you, they are cheap these days, so I almost always one with me anyway.
I also enjoy my own typesetting books - and so I can give my favorite knitting patterns in this reader, just by typesetting it and Export as PDF. Nice!
The page-turn is slower than it should be, but actually turning pages is not instantaneous anyway so that does not bother me. Plus, you get used to the click you are reading the last sentence on the page, so it does not Slow Me Down.
Overall I am very happy with it!

Rating: 5Summary: A really great reading experience
I read with the Sony Reader Pocket every day and love the experience. In normal light, the screen is bright at night I use a little book light and very easy to read in bed. The refresh rate on page turns, is 1-2 seconds (similar to a manual page turn) and it does not bother me at all. I have on my computer Calibre (free software for managing e-books - look in Google), I can automatically download free newspaper articles every day and when I plug Pocket Reader into my computer automatically the message invites you to my Reader. I added checks ebooks, bought a few eBooks online and downloaded for free public domain eBooks. Calibre can convert most of the books without DRM protection format for Sony ePub eReader. This reader is basic, which would you expect from the low price, but it offers access to many books and offers a great reading experience that is truly everything I need, at least for now.
Pros
to use small, lightweight, portable and simple.
Nice screen without glare (which is much more a problem with the touch-screen Sony Reader)
Three type sizes, fonts, but is determined by the book so the transfer of fonts can be very variable in size. Although I was concerned that not enough opportunities in the region, has not this been a problem.
Software - other than the Sony Reader software complained but I had no problem with the installation or use on Windows XP. You need it if you want the library to read books.
Works well lit with small book, because the screen is small.
Cons
Small screen.
No searching, commenting, dictionary (that would be useless without search), or external wireless card (but I doubt I ever fill the space on the reader and it is easy books that move between the computer and the reader).
So far, these disadvantages are not been a problem for me, but if it were me, would be the Sony Daily Edition (which is larger and costs more than twice as much as the Pocket Reader).
The bottom line for me is the reading experience, and it was great with the Sony Reader Pocket.

Rating: 5Summary: A Solid and simple reader
When you at family snapshots, or see want to hear MP3's, the PRS-300 is not for you. If you have a mini computer keyboard or WiFi then at other options. If you want to drag your finger across a touch screen, you are out of luck. But if you read a device, books on, you're in the right place.
In contrast to kindled, corners and the other Sony readers, the 300 does not have the tricks. It is one thing, and that is, it shows books to read. It is the clearest picture of one of the products listed above, and the lowest cost. The device itself is easy to use and very robust. The Sony brand cases or large, or there are some nice third party options. It reads a good range of formats (including ePub), and thus your ability to buy and where the books is great.
It is of course a tragic mistake .... the software. Sony still has problems, makes a stable and useful software, the software that comes with their readers, is an example. I knew that software before hand, and never installed the Sony. I instead installed Adobe Digital Editions and caliber. Both are free and both have their functions. ADE allows you to use ePub with Adobe DRM. With it, you can allow your computer and your readers. Caliber allows you to make your digital library clean and tidy. Caliber also converts various formats of ebooks. Without the Sony software can not buy pounds from the Sony store, but their prices are generally higher anyway. Kobo is an excellent ebook store, and there are many others. Having said all that, there are many people that install and use the Sony software that comes with the reader, and have no problems. As they say, you vary your mileage.
A word of warning about the world of eBooks in general. The biggest problem with ebooks is now digital rights management (DRM). That is the way to get the company to "lock" on a particular computer or ebook reader. This is so you can not loan it out to someone, or put it on any device you want. If you are computer savvy, you can search the Internet for free and remove the tools to DRM. If you have a simple "The program" type of user you are using DRM, no matter what you buy stick reader. The vast majority of people have problems with ebooks and ebook readers are informed as a direct result of DRM and its authorizing legislation.
At the end ..... The Sony PRS-300 is an excellent value. Easy to use, and after a month of using a purchase I would do it again.

Rating: 5Summary: A True Reader!
Here is what I like about the Sony Pocket readers.
1. Size. You can easily hold and operate it with one hand. Excellent ergonomics and portability
2. Easy. No complicated controls. Very easy to set up software on the PC and then sync to device. Everything you need to do is drag and drop pounds in the device.
3. Screen clarity. Very good readability. Though only 8 levels of adjustment, I think the pocket reader has the best picture clarity. The reason could be the smaller screen size will increase the contrast.
4. Build quality. Feels solid and well built all round. Truly a joy to hold!
5. Supported formats. Very simple drag and drop PDFs and other documents in order. I am also able to borrow books from my local library.
6. I have the leather cover with built-in LED light and it works very well for dark lighting conditions. The case is very good as well designed. Another plus point is that the light used its own AAA batteries and therefore does not drain the readers internal battery.
7. Fantastic battery life! Amazing battery. I read almost every day for a few hours and I can just over a week, without the reader will be charged.
What pleases me about the reader?
1. Sony Reader software is ok - seems a lot like iTunes. But I'm used to it, and I have no problems using it.
2. Reader may have problems in dealing with very large pounds. The reader software may crash when you load a really great book on the pocket edition, although loads the same book only touch on my output. It could be the processor is not as powerful on the pocket edition. However, this is only for a book so happens that it's not a deal breaker.
Overall.
As a mere reader, this is probably the best product on the market today. It is an excellent value if the Kindle has the poor build quality and less support for open standards to take you to the hundreds of thousands of books from public libraries and Google .... access compared to ebooks, but you can get help with wireless Kindle, which it is easier to buy, books on the device itself. For me, the books on the device itself have been a factor, so, why not always a pocket edition of my existing Sony was buying complementary output touch an easy decision.

Rating: 5Summary: Absolutely Love It!
I had to eReaders for quite a while and knew that I wanted one, but not easy to be sure you know what. Finally sat down to Sony and I have always been enthusiastic. It's really easy to use and I am now reading for pleasure again. I do not really know how much I missed reading in the evening. Even if you do not want to buy books, there are many libraries that you can check out to read eBooks. Not to mention, the E Store, Sony has always some free books that have to be changed regularly. I am pleased to see where Sony goes with her readers.

Rating: 5Summary: Awesome in its simplicity.
I am confident that if prior to taking a eReader any wonder, a question of what it is that they want it. Does it need to play music? Among the pictures? Have WiFi? That ultimately the model you are looking for, and the price.
For me it was easy. I have a lot of PDF files on my computer, I wanted to read on the jump. This reader is perfect for this. It is extremely easy to use, appears on my PC as an external drive and I can just copy and paste files in this way. I can also the Sony software and books in our online shop.
The battery has lasted me a few weeks. The construction quality is very impressive with what feels like a steel casing all around. It has something to gain some weight and feels very good in the hand. The three zoom levels are nice, but it seems the center is always going too with not too small and not too large. It has internal storage for around 300 pounds, but honestly, why so big? You read, maybe two at a time, even if you had 30 pounds more than "just in case," that carry much. This reader is not to highlight, not a dictionary, rather than either Facebook. You create a file, and you can read it. It is awesome in its simplicity.

Rating: 1Summary: Back to the drawing board for Sony
I received the PRS300 as a Christmas gift and it went back today. I used a demo at a local chain bookstore, and was not impressed. It is not the function and scroll function is very slowly and continuously, bypassing the preinstalled books as I used to and I did track back and forth. In the pre-loaded Cookbook, "the ingredients on the next page and the directions you need to rotate back and forth, for example. I could be treated with the lack of wireless capabilities have, but I wanted this device for my scientific work and research, and only a few titles I need are available. I also noticed, in just a few minutes I had to it that the "front page" with contents already stamped itself on the screen when I was turned off. There exist no screen saver, if I leave them on for a while without the side mirrors.
Even the battery is not replaceable by the user - additional $ 125 to 150, when it finally no more fees? No, thanks. You have it for free on your computer or an adapter for the purchase of an additional $ 30. It's for what you get - almost $ 200 too expensive? Try $ 100 since you must return it to Sony to replace the battery within a few years.
If you're a casual reader, such as biographies and pop fiction, and prepared to press even when the battery will take no more charges, this is for the reader for you.

Rating: 4Summary: Best reader for reading only
I've had the Sony Reader in a month. This is the perfect read for the casual reader player.
PROS:
1) Perfect form factor: I like the light weight and small form. I like reading in bed. Feel all readers would be larger and heavier, awkward and uncomfortable after a while.
2) Book format: I could download eBooks from the public library and Google public areas with ease. I already have a large paper book library, and I intend to use the reader to read more classics.
3) Magazine & Newspaper: I use Caliber magazines for download to complete my follow-up of current events. Caliber works smoothly with the reader.
4) Build quality: high quality construction. The screen is good.
5) Price: Prize for the best quality.
CONS:
1) Limited has: this reader single-purpose device. There are no bells and whistles such as online downloads, MP3 players, multimedia capability, notes, etc.
2) Software: the Reader software can support library to be improved.
3) configuration: the control button in the middle is a little awkward to use.
4) Format: For textbook reading with mathematical formula, it is impossible to read if the font size to medium or large.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a single-purpose device and it works well, especially if you live off-line transfer from a PC. With the wealth of many new eReaders of CES 2010, the rate has continued to come down. The Sony Reader will continue its leadership position as a very simple product, that's all I need.

Rating: 4Summary: Better value than kindle 2 - especially if you have a good cell phone
So I tried a friend of Kindle 2 and this before the decision, this was the best and were not dissappointed.
Kindle 2 pros - for the extra $ 90 or so, here is (the Kindle features that does not have this reader, and if I miss them):
- The ability to write notes and read how you highlight text (I would not use anyway)
- Save access to books via the Amazon and the ability to download books from Wi-Fi: (I miss the Wi-Fi to download. It takes no time to download the books from the junction with the Sony Store on my computer , and in contrast to the Kindle - my computer library is sorted into folders to organize my books. But, there is no doubt that the Amazon store is a simple bookstore used. But in spite of all what I had feared, I did not find Sony pounds more expensive, or a leaner choice. All I wanted, including best-sellers have been having almost exactly the same price as at Amazon. Plus, my readers let me download digital books and documents from any source outside of the Amazon -- also from the library.)
- Search for the book and look at the definition of words, as you do not (missed that - but I have a dictionary on my iPhone when I get stuck reading.)
- Basic Internet access (I mean by this phone when I'm away)
- The ability to store more than 1500 pounds (which you can store only about 400, but I usually keep all of my previously read books for the library stored on my computer and think that I read or want to read on the reader ).
- Can you read aloud (I always used to hear that my iPhone if I want to hear the book instead of reading them, but this is a good option if you want both)
All other functions such as bookmarks, remember where you left off, displaying and downloading PDF, Word and other digital documents, a decent battery life and adjustable font size are both available, but here are the Sony Reader pros; really cheaper costs over the gloss:
1. Better clarity: It's stunningly sharp, even in bright sunshine
2. Better mobility and a sleeker appearance: The screen does not take extra keys most of the memory space on it. It is about the same thickness as my iPhone, and looks as smooth. It is smaller than most mass paperbacks - so it easily fits in a hand or a coat pocket for easy portability and use.
3. Simplicity: Take all that away, bells and whistles - and it will only use a simpler - like one-touch bookmarks.
4. Formatting: For some reason, Kindle Formatting a table of contents on the left of two of the books, which I compared (including the massive Stephen King's "Under the Dome"), I like the option to skip to different chapters.
Where they are both a little help: pictures in books such as maps and tables (not the covers or other image-related) documents. The Sony Pictures are clear - but (very small and they do not change size when you try to increase them by adjusting the font size). The Kindle still seem fuzzy or see clearly missing pieces.
Bottom Line: I think this is the best value for an eReader designed to be just that - a very good e-reader, and most other features I do not miss, or on my cell phone when I'm traveling.

Rating: 1Summary: do not buy this product
I bought this for my son, who left in a box. After 6 months, I have decided to use it. I have died twice and half of the screen. SONY want to fix my $ 75 to free.
I guess a half to resolve working screen cost half the price.

Rating: 2Summary: Excellent Device But Poor Mac Software
This is my first (and only) eReader, and if Sony came up with this model in September last year I bought to me as the price is quite significantly lower than its main competitor, the Kindle (). I was not sure whether I would enjoy eReading, but I'm definitely a fan
Pros:
* The unit feels great when I consider it similar to a thin paperback.
* The screen is very good in terms of clarity.
* The eReader feels robust, mainly because of its metal casing.
* I've found it easy to use without reading the manual.
* I love to be able to have many books in such a small device. :)
* The price of the eBook seems reasonable to me.
* Battery life is very good.
Cons:
I use have a MacBook Pro, and found the * integrated experience, to be poor *. Sony Reader library is now in version 1.1, and it somewhat works (version 1.0 was even worse). The first thing you need to create not one but two accounts, one with Sony and Adobe, the former to buy eBooks and access to these eBooks with DRM-related activities (why?). An expense, but okay, if there is a one-time necessary evil, so be it. Unfortunately, I recently paid my problems syncing eBooks had on my authorized readers, and approved paid my problems with reading eBooks on my laptop, and then ran to problems that required me to de-license and authorize the devices again, each time with these two accounts.
It is quite possible that the PC software is much better than the Mac version, but this weakness is the killing experience for me. I give the device itself is very good grades, but since the software is so poor, the whole experience leaves me bored. If the software has been brought up to par, then I would eBook into the sky.

Rating: 5Summary: Fabulous device for the avid reader
I had to purchase a little concerned about the reader. I have seen the Kindle and thought it was, apart from the search made of plastic and loaded with the QWERTY keyboard (apart from the fact that I can take advantage of wireless options in my hometown instead of Singapore), big and bulky. The reader is not only the perfect size, but has a reasonable size screen to get the right combination of visible screen size and portability. It is also completely open, so I can text ePub, Adobe docs all with ease. I love it! My only criticism is the plastic molding around the edge (if everything else is made of brushed aluminum), and the lack of a slot for an expansion card.
are published now we just need more books in the EPUB format!

Rating: 5Summary: Fit my needs perfectly
I will not give up books regularly for now, but I needed something smaller, so I could travel without obtaining six books with me. These fit the bill. The software platform is common, I might books from public libraries and other sources (such as Project Gutenberg download). The navigation is simple and intuitive, so it was very easy to use. It has to be connected to a computer for charging and load books and it is not backlit, so if these things are important to you, then you need a different product. But I read about 900 pages and still had half a charge left and I just wanted something like a book that would fit in my handbag. I love it!

Rating: 5Summary: Great for the price
I bought the Sony Reader Pocket minimize the weight carried during the journey. I am so happy with my purchase. I travel frequently established for the work that I used with at least two travel books. I finally tired of sledding around the extra weight and decided to go with an e-book reader. My hobby is reading only that ... Read! I did not emphasize the need for, or write around the edges, and then touch the screen. I have a pretty extensive vocabulary I have no need for a dictionary. After weighing all the pros and cons, I decided to go for the Sony over the Kindle too. Its cheaper and smaller, and only worked for me. I also have no need to download books on wireless connections. As soon as I bought the reader and began to play with him, I had uploaded more than 50 books in no time. This should keep me busy for some time. When I hear about new books, I download them and automatically sync them when I plug the device to calculate. It can not really better than that!
The only question I had was the Sony software for the reader. It was slow and limited. I quickly solved this problem by downloading caliber. The Caliber, I am able to rename, pounds or correct author names. I can not download cover art from their book. I can convert file formats. Its great! Additionally, you can find thousands of pounds online for free download!
His little ... small enough to fit in the back pocket of the jeans women. Its very durable in contact. It does not feel cheap or fragile. Package comes with a neoprene case that the reader is not well in the search for a leather case with a light soon once the price drops to purchase.

Rating: 4Summary: Great little reader with some unexpected surprises!
To be honest I bought this reader because it was cheap and small. I have a phone that I sent to the Web, GPS, can listen to music and surf, I wanted one of my readers - Read Books! To this end, this reader is perfect. The screen has no glare problems always great, and the device feels solid without bulky. In contrast to an IPAD that, my roommate, I feel comfortable keeping it in one hand for long reading sessions.
THE good surprises
A program called "Caliber" is the greatest thing ever made. It is software that collects material from all over the Internet and putting it on your reader. It has a feature that automatically news almost every magazine or paper basket and download them to your readers. It's simple - I run every morning caliber, click on "fetch news" button, plug in my reader, and it turns the current on the order what I want for my readers. For me this is the NYTimes, CNET News, PC Magazine, and USA Today. Its absolutely free! and it also helps find free books online, I have a couple of Mark Twain and Charles Dickens novels on my own.
The reader also reads PDF and Word DOC files, which was a pleasant surprise.
He called a Pocket Reader, and, unlike the Kindle and Sony Reader Touch, it really does fit in my pocket.
THE surprises
Sony software is lame, not terrible, but just not up to par with Amazon. Yes, you can almost every book to find you, and yes, they are priced pretty close (amazon sometimes better) as. But the software and memory are just not quite as good. The search function does not work well if you can not spell, for example, an author name correctly, as I never do with Chuck Palahunick, there are not finding what you are looking for. This is not a deal breaker, but a kind of pain in the butt.
The reader does not turn itself off or on a sleep mode, so do not forget that your battery or will expire. On the positive side battery life is very good.
OVERALL
If you have a device that portable and just for reading this is perfect. If you like news and magazine programs caliber then it is simply the best on the market. However, if you want more options to walk like the music or the downloading via 3G as Kindle the way (but you will never get a free newspaper or magazine!).
Happy reading!

Rating: 5Summary: Great littler reader
I bought the Sony Reader in December 2009 for $ 200 After some extensive research. At that time I had bought the Sony Reader, it cost about $ 200, and the Kindle II will cost about $ 270 I read many reviews of the Sony and Kindle II, and I finally bought the Sony PRS-300 Silver. This is what I have learned -
Pros - It is compact, easy to use, feels stable, and the downloading pounds is quick and easy. You can literary classics (Edgar Allen Poe, Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte ...) for free from Google books. If the book you are not available at the eBook Store, you can apply to them, the book. The eBook Store not about Paulo Coelho "The Alchemist" available. I asked the book, and about a week later it was available at the eBook Store. Even the books that you can buy to keep your PC's hard drive is stored. I have read that the Kindle books to an online account with Amazon store, so they never really belong to you.
Cons - Initial set up at the Sony eBook Store was a pain. First, download the software (that was easy), but then you have to set up an online account. I could not find the link to set up the account with the Sony eBook Store Web site. After several frustrating minutes searching the eBook Store Web site for the link to set up an account, I contacted customer service, and by e-mail the link to me. Finally, there is no dictionary (the Kindle II), and Amazon has built a much larger selection of books.
I love my Sony Reader, and I recommend it.

Rating: 4Summary: Great product
I bought one of these for my book-loving wife. She absolutely loves it and tells me all the time, it is the best gift of all time. I tried it and I love it more than reading a book actually. I also like that you invite, almost every document or an e-book from almost any source that allows HTML!
Construction and durability
It is to study and very well together. It is bright enough that you do not tire your arms when you held it for a long time, but seems sturdy enough to stand up for dropped or squeezed into a packed knapsack. The screen is like a piece of paper and no eye strain at all. The battery life is longer than any electronic device I ever owned.
Ease of Use / Features
The software is very user friendly and I was not always everything to find out how to use. The instructions for use of the device are a little hard to read and I felt like the understanding of the functions of the device were pretty much up to me to find out for myself. I challenged my wife could explain technically relatively easy, though. The device has a bookmark function that you pick up a book where you left off, and you can to a specific page by entering the page number using the number keys on the right side (rotate twice as menu selection buttons) .
Software
Sony should really have the time to have included some of the bugs out of this thing work. The PC software is easy enough to use and slim (pretty much a clone of iTunes), but it is riddled with errors and crashes just about every time you try to use it, unless you load documents carefully one at a time and pause for a few minutes in between. The device itself is sometimes a little slow running their own software and freezes from time to time.
Overall, this is a great product, especially if you do not worry to shell out almost $ 300 dollars for the larger products. I would recommend it to anyone, whether you are a big fan of reading. I really hope that this is the future of books.

Rating: 5Summary: Great Reader
I do not know what I add to previous reviews. I love the size (since I wanted something portable) and can easily put it in my backpack or pocket. A surprising that I like the page navigation. It is so quick to use the numeric keys for menu options. They can also be used to navigate to a specific page when you are inside the book. The battery lasts a long time (I have read 6 books and have only calculated once when the battery indicator shows 2 out of four bars). Everything else I do has in itself have already been verified.

Rating: 4Summary: great Sony digital reader pocket edition, weak e-book store
Great reader, I liked it and it was easy to handle. Nevertheless, I have it again today in the bookstore, where I had bought them.
The e-book business, e-books sold to readers, can not get receipts for your purchases! Contact the support team were frustrating. A customer service person did not seem to understand why you want a receipt (allows me to write my work to) certain books. Another suggested that I understand the software / device wrong, or that it is really all of the bookstore's fault that the e-Reader was sold with.
As a solution to the problem of the lack of reception was not planned, I returned to the reader, where I purchased it. Sadly, as I liked it.

Rating: 5Summary: Havent put it down.
I love the Sony Reader pocket. Really, you have not down, since I purchased it. I spent much time researching this against other e-readers out there and I did the right choice. Comparing this and the Kindle is apples and oranges to me, changing facilities, prices and sizes. How to buy an RV, if you live in the city. The size is really the best aspect by far. You can do it in one hand and keep reading and it is very portable. Excellent rugged build quality.
I bought the bundle that comes with the leather and charger. It really helps if you use both hands to hold it. It protects the reader very well and makes it look like you read a magazine, so it does not draw any attention to anything that I like very much. But a few other opinions, this e-reader is what it is to repeat and it feels good.
So far, as is the flash when turning the pages, for an e-ink screen is needed to prevent ghost images on the screen. It is not in any way disturbing to read a few pages. The screen has an excellent contrast in all types of lighting very dark, and I have no problems with the screen size and I read on the small font size. And you can not write reviews about the lack of backlighting, which is reduced to the battery life, which would be excellent. Someone has a bar within two weeks, which surprised me gone.
Navigating through the menus is off quickly, but the only time in navigating all is the choice when reading a new book. I'm not even sure you turn off the reader, it is easy to sixty minutes sleep and start again when you pick it up and read the Power button on film and you are on the page where you want to have ceased. That's all I ever could not be easier to do. I use mine with a Mac and have had no problems at all.
It is a complete online user guide for those who handle the start-up guide cannot in the box. The Sony library to buy new books is growing and has some books that I thought they would not have, and they should but some dont. Hope this helps in your decision to buy an excellent product for hard-core readers.

Rating: 5Summary: Im not a reader, but....
I'm in love. I cannot Put that thing down there, its outstanding.
I've read more books in the past week to have it than I have in two years, and this is no exaggeration. The text is clear and fresh, is the refresh rate (page turns) rather quickly and disrupts the flow reading (PDF's are a little slow to renew, but not as bad) and its built very solid. Nice aluminum case makes it feel just like it will last forever. Besides all that, it can be up to 300 pounds
If your like me, someone who has legally ADD, you will receive by the amount of pages books were intimidated, this is for you. Because of the form factor, remember that you read a 300 page book (even with the page numbers at the bottom), and make yourself comfortable and stay focused on what your reading.
Things I want included, just because a technique in geek, wireless synchronization, more memory (some 300 books a lot) and a better book layout, that is, I would like the covers were on the lookout for a book next to or even with the book title. And I wish the Sony eBook Store was a little faster, but do not be slow.
Apart from that, this is a must. I've recommended to all my friends and family

Rating: 5Summary: Love. Love. Love.
I decided to read up WiFi for the opportunity in ebooks. Lit and. Pdf (and at a height of almost $ 100). It was not a bad decision by me.
The reader is comfortable to hold. Easy to use. Easy to load. There is a fee for some time (if it is not me on track - as I had for 40 hours this weekend).
It is small enough for one-handed reading, and there is no thumb cramps from trying to keep a book alive. Since I have the Reader Thanks Again, I've read 11 pounds full length ... and all I can think is, I can not wait to go home and read more.

Rating: 2Summary: Migrating from earlier readers? Beware
Just looking at the device itself, which is a very good successor to the Sony models. I had a Sony 505th After an accident that could have survived any electronic device that I bought the Pocket Reader as a replacement. I have no complaints about the device itself. However, Sony has made the process of modernization as painful as possible. I almost suspect that sadists working in software division of Sony. After connecting the device to my laptop. I found that none of the books I had bought Sony Store worked with the new unit. Sony has postponed a new format for the eBook files. To support them to be, she said, users need to download all their old purchases. Except that half the books I've said, I have to download are not available. Thank you Sony and f___ you too. Fortunately, most of my e-library comes from free sites or libraries.
Buy the Sony Reader, and shun the bookstore.

Rating: 2Summary: Once thoroughly compared to Kindle, it got the boot.
I want this really fast. I have my Sony PRS-300 and immediately began to use it. Free books I downloaded from Google (via the Sony store), and from my library. In addition to samples of the books from the Sony bookstore. Of course I was excited about the Kindle suckers, which they had to pay for their books and could not charge for the content to outwit and were using a device that was bigger, heavier and more expensive. What I quickly learned, was a surprise.
Physically, the unit is too small (yes, I'm so technically, was surprised that an advantage) and for the size too hard. Have you noticed how two objects with the same weight and the smaller object is more difficult to manage? This is the PSR-300. Also 5 "screen was a bit too small for me, more on this below. If I have the Kindle (giving away the ending), it just fits so well in my hand and felt relatively easy (though technically thicker ... )
But that's not why I'm there again. It turned out that the free content from Google full of spelling mistakes, I can live with that, but it is also so that formatted it hard to read. I played with the 3 different font sizes is not enough (), and could no longer convenient. It is also geared towards the left is not justified, the (easier to read for some reason I do not know why). Then I opened the book from my library (in Adobe format) and it was terrible. The book, in the smallest font size as much leeway so that I could only see the site, everything else was margin with cuts, increases as the edges but had left the text was too small, although increasing again - too big. OK, so I moved to Sony sells content. Here, size was not a problem, and it was okay.
Then I was thinking a few pages on Kindle friend, fonts, page layout view justified. I decided to try it, finally I could give it back. Well, I quickly learned that you can also get free books directly from: - Amazon, I downloaded the same Sherlock Holmes stories, I downloaded it on my Sony, and here they were formatted completely and without spelling errors! Since it is a Sony review, I would only say in conclusion that I have sent him back. I am now more expensive to admit to my $ 100 Kindle and meekly to ignite one of the suckers.
One more thing before the Sony Reader I went into BestBuy and looked at the 6 "version of Sony. IMHO it was too much glitter, and I did not care for the touch interface.
Whispersynch on the Kindle is not something I wanted, but I still have to plug it into my PC - and I use it. Woull I miss it now if I had to go without them.

Rating: 5Summary: Perfect for what it was made for!!!
I almost never write for my products, what is wrong, because I rely heavily on reviews to make my purchase. So with, that I found that I needed to start writing some, and this is the perfect place to start ..
The Sony PRS-300 is a fantastic travel e-reader and is as such. The size makes portability easy. I have researched a lot before we end this and I am very happy with my purchase. I read books as a treat. I do not hilight, comment, notes in the margins, and I have no need for a dictionary while reading my books. So these are not needed in my choice for a reader. The Sony range of readers are great because they can use a very large number of formats, more than just about everyone else. They are also compatible with the local library ebook check outs. AFAIK, the Kindle is not part of the library to check out, I think, may be the Nook.
The size is 300 for the reading of a hand without perfectly tired and the screen size, while the smaller (5 ") than the other" main stream "Readers (6) is still large enough to comfortably read. The sharpness of the words on the 300 is unprecedented in comparison to other readers. The PRS-600 suffers from some glare issues on the touch screen, and the contrast is not as crisp compared to the 300th Overall, the eink technology is perfect on this device.
This unit is for what it purports to be perfect, and that a small portable device that does not have Wi-Fi or other characteristics of the larger higher-priced units. So, if you're like me and you just want to read books, this is a great unit. If you want to take notes, or want / need a dictionary, then spend the extar for another device. For those of you trying to read these reviews to decide on a device that does not please, no faith in the 1 star reviews who complain that there is no backlight, wireless, dictionary, etc. .. IT does not claim to do so they do not knock on with. And someone has it 1 star because it on ice for customer service at Christmas?? I would not expect perfect service on that day.
And claims for the reviewers that it is not certain formats, "it works - do not accept Word and text files, it does not accept free eBooks from the Internet such as Google Books," It is definitely not. Doc and. Txt, I have the files on my device and read them well. I also have dozens of free eBooks downloaded from Google, Gutenberg, etc. .. many of them classics, and they load and read perfectly.
This is a great unit for what it was designed to do, and you will not regret buying it. I'll probably look into increasing reader (7) "for home use, and probably with wireless streaming newspapers or news, but my primary book reader for traveling and at home will be for a longer reading.

Rating: 3Summary: Poor manufacturing tolerances, good form factor.
I own a Kindle.
I bought the PRS-300 found in a second e-Reader (1) because sometimes me and my wife, our reading at the same time, and (2) is often the Kindle just a bit too large to fit in my plans for day fit, while the PRS-300 is much smaller and can fit almost anywhere.
No, the two can not divide, file formats, but we use the caliber of many of our eBooks between the two and the two devices have some kind of queasy convert overlap in our database reading. It would be nice, the days of the government regulating this medium, forcing all manufacturers to help you all the books you read already purchased on any device for their format.
But in the meantime, the PRS-300 is our second e-reader. First, the good. Correctly in relation to the Kindle: improved menus, better navigation, faster speed, better size, better formatting on some books, the Kindle does not, and perhaps even a better built-in font.
But then, the bad. Manufacturing tolerances are questionable at best. Initially, a slightly twisted / crooked screen when compared to frame of the device. Returned it. Second, a shot is even worse, with a kind of periodic dips in the back, that it comes to looks like in manufacturing. One of the screws at the top is loose. No evidence to check for quality. Storage is limited. We knew that going in, but it is an area in which the device falls short, less memory than Kindle, and no expansion slot, like other Sony e-readers. Finally, the keys are incompatible, they are in the same style buttons, but some are muddy and some are "clicky" on the bottom and side. Basically it means not to be trusted (is again) in long-term quality.
A total of 2.5 out of 5 stars. It would earn 3-3,5 if it sells at retail for $ 149 instead of $ 199 It would earn 4-5 stars if $ 99-129 in this function and quality.

Rating: 3Summary: Problems with Sony PRS- 300
I love my readers. I got my first reader as a gift for Christmas. 2 weeks later, half the screen went blank. After 2 + hours on the phone, Sony was immediately replaced. The exchange is now criss-crossed lines and is getting worse. To say I that I love my readers, but it must be something better than these problems. I think it is time to move on to another reader.

Rating: 1Summary: Slow, bad software, poor international support
In two words: It sucks. If there is an opposite to an Apple product - that it would be: slow, quirky, barely usable. Sony e-reader was on the market for many years, I am very disappointed as this pathetic device + software combo is.

Rating: 4Summary: Sony Digital Pocket Reader
I like it. I just ran into a couple of incidents where books, which I wanted to download are only for U.S. - I may be wrong on the Canada / USA on the ground, have no time had it.
Listen to the reviews, there is a slight 2.1 second delay in response to your touch command. No need to spend money for more bells and whistles if you only want to read. Battery lasts for weeks. How it fits in my handbag for the trip.
I bought it because I have enough books lying around when I'm with them I'm done. You have little value, but what to do with them? Plus, there is no waiting to go into the bookstore. You can add books to your wish list and download immediately, if you want to start another book. Prices of the books is no more, or I've found to be better than store price of paperback books.

Rating: 4Summary: Sony Pocket E Reader
I took this for myself after buying one for my stepfather. I love it. It is easy to read. I have very little time for complicated manuals or instructions. I have this device and read in a very short time. I bought a charger meet with him and a floodlight.
I won 4 out of 5 because this version is not possible as much as the previous addition, I bought for my stepfather, and you have a separate charger that is a little expensive, larger purchase. My only dislike is how much the "add on's" are. However, for a real book worm is a dream come true.

Rating: 5Summary: The ideal ebook reader for me
I have researched a lot before I decided to buy the PRS-300. First, I was on the PRS-600 because of the additional features that set including the touch screen. After reading many reviews and some soul searching here, I noticed that the smaller brother, the PRS-300 eBook reader is actually the perfect for me. I will also mention that this is my first such device, and I will have been for a long time.
What drove me away from the PRS-600 (otherwise a lot of useful auxiliary functions), is the fact that the screen is not as clear as the PRS-300 by the additional layer for the touchscreen. In fact, the PRS-300 has claimed the best and high-contrast screen of any reader currently in production. And this is the main reason why it finally decided for me. I want to read my experience of reading a book as close as possible.
For those who complain that this reader is a wireless connection, I would say the following is missing: You are a bit wrong my friends. In fact, I would not have bought this reader, if it had) a wireless connection (such as the Kindle. A book does not have wireless and it works great. I do not want to see deleted surprise for my books remotely. In fact, I love the fact that I can my readers on my computer to connect via a cable whenever I want. When I load on my books, will be a long time before I want to fiddle with them again. And no, I do not read messages on the device. Strictly pounds.
The device itself is very elegant and well constructed. Even if the back is not made of metal only on the front (), the construction feels very solid and stable. It's a little bit weighty in the hand, but just enough to not feel weak. The first time you lay your eyes on it maybe a surprise, because the PRS-300 is smaller in person than pictures. Just so you can get an idea, it has the same width as a traditional paperback, but it is about 1 cm shorter. I think it's very simple, in one or two hands to hold.
The click buttons are very satisfying, and I noticed that I use it instead of a touch screen that can get dirty prefer the touch of all.
The absence of an expansion (SD) slot is not a problem. I have downloaded more than 22 books about it and I still have about 300 MB. The 22 pounds is probably still 2 years until the end, because some of them more than 1000 pages long. The space is really not an issue here.
The screen is very good, but it could have been better. More contrast would be nice, but the E Ink technology is still young. I do not mind that there are only 5 "instead of 6" because the resolution is the same as for the larger model.
Another thing that would improve the speed of operation. Page rotates very quickly, and even if not immediately, you will use the speed after a while. In those days I have not even noticed. What would have been nice, though a slightly faster processor. Certain large pound (1000 + pages) long before the first load, but I suppose because the device tries to book format for its screen.
Battery life seems reasonable, although I have not met who says, Pages 7000-8000, with a cargo. I have only charged the battery fully, even if only to read once the first load I have over 1000 pages before it failed. I am sure that battery life improves after a few charge-discharge cycles.
Another big problem for this reader is that the battery will not be replaced by the user. Some people have this reader because of this reason, but I was resolved that the battery will lose more than half of its capacity over the next 2 years, with the time the device is probably caused by something modern anyway so it really is replaced will not be such a big problem for me.
All these negatives are apparently not enough for me, they give less than 5 stars because as I said at the beginning, I had the PRS-300 thoroughly before it happened, and I knew exactly what their limitations are explored.
2 things that I want to mention before they stopped it.
1. I did not use Sony software. I have the freeware caliber instead. It's awesome a piece of software, although it seems to have some mistakes and it is a bit slow in operation.
2. Although Sony does not deliver the PRS 300 with a charger, you can at home for a compatible with a mini-USB connector. I found out that the charger for my Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS will work fine, since it a tension that has the compatibility to 5V. A word of warning here: do this at your discretion, I will not be held responsible if you damage your readers, by using a 3rd party charger. What was for me, perhaps not necessarily work for you.

Rating: 4Summary: Very Pleased
I bought my readers finally after at least one year covetting them. Ultimately, I decided with the E-Reader Kindle on the use due to its ability to continue to library materials. Our local library has epub a very large collection, so this is a real alternative for me to buy pounds.
After a day can I use to say that I really love this little device. It was incredibly easy to set it up and books are downloaded. I have all the steps of the process (including navigation to / from the book) is quite intuitive and have no glitches or problems experienced.
The only reason why I gave this book five stars is that while the size of the device is perfect, the screen just a bit small for my eyes. It seems a lot of potential wasted screen real estate on buttons, etc. A small gripe, however, and overall I am very pleased to be satisfied with my purchase!
