Summary: a hassle
Ereading I thought a more efficient way of reading would be fought as conventional books, but I was wrong. The thing must be recharged every day it seemed to turn the pages will need more effort than with a real site, readability is hampered by the glare of the touch scree. I like real books, and hope, never read again.

Summary: Almost tried turning the page....
I was looking to get an ebook reader for some time, and was given the Kindle for a while. The big thing for me, but use the ability to PDF documents. I have a large number of books that I use, and print for the sake of portability is not an option.

As for me the Sony Reader was the name - Sony. I have heard a number of Sony products, and know that they are well built and reliable. The negative was the name. I also know that Sony, its own way when it comes to media formats tend to go, it was a pleasant surprise to find that the reader had used an SD card reader and the EPUB Standard.

The reader itself is not the first screen as bad as made. I'm not using a Kindle for comparison, but I found the screen very well be readable - especially in bright sunlight. In fact, a couple of times I actually reached for the top corner you turn a page RH. Within the screen is okay, with the occasional need to tilt the screen. All in all, the touch screen is quite good from a readability issue. Note that displayed in direct sunlight, and the text I had to go to a larger font size - I suspect this is an E-Ink issue, but purely as Sony.

Where can I find the touch screen makes sense for comment. Just select the option button and then increases, and you can select either an area or notes on the page. This function is ideal for me, and allows you to view all the notes and go straight to the page that you made on them. I also liked the ability to double tap on a word and get the dictionary. For use with technical or reference pound, which is fantastic. If you are interested in regular books, then this is probably not an essential feature for you.

I do not have the touchscreen for turning pages, and this leads to the second field, the reader is to be seen "less as a Kindle". The placement of the buttons for turning the pages in the bottom corner LH. Of himself and tries to keep the reader and the pages with one hand is not so easy, and with the buttons on the edges makes more sense. BUT - if you buy the cap and hold the reader as a "real" book, thumb rests actually very close to the side buttons - makes it of course, the pages are turned. Page turns were quick, and about the same length of time you would choose to do to it with a book.

So if you, the reader, seek to ensure that the cover as well!

I have had the reader for a couple of weks now, and I have found myself reading much more than what I normally do. I suspect that it remembers where you were, and you can pick from an extensive library makes a difference. This would be for each eBook Reader.

If you need to use PDF reference material on a regular basis, I recommend the Sony Reader to you. But I also strongly recommend the cover as well.

Summary: Awful software
I totally agree with those who had a 3-star record. The software reminds me of the nineties. After reading ebooks in palms, smartphones and ppc to read from this Sony 600 reader is a complete regression. Together with the software, is the glare on the screen constantly trouble. After reading the book constantly moving to find the right position to be able to read. It has been over a month, and I'm still complaining, it means that it really sucks.

The Sony Touch is a great machine, but turn the page buttons should be on the side. I am thinking seriously about a change to another brand.

Summary: Couldn't Live Without It!
I must say I absolutely love this reader! I bought 2 really so, if something happens, I'd still have the others! The text appears clean and beautiful, very good looking, love the touchscreen and dictionary support is awesome! I have no complaints or bleating about these readers, including the screen. For those of you who say the glare is bad, do not buy it! I have no problems with a "sham" and I've had it for 4 months. I can not even leave the house without them! I would recommend this to anyone who reads.

Summary: Disappointed
Like many people I have a lot of research before making a decision. I do not like buying something expensive, not thoroughly educated on it. As a result, I rarely send anything back when I am dead, as a rule-one in my decisions. That is, this is the third time that I sent back after buying something from Amazon, and I have hundreds of items purchased from them.

I will not bore you to nit-picky things. I want you to only four things that made me send it back and decide to get a Kindle, instead of:

1) The license! Oh, the receipt! I assumed that since almost all the readers out there uses the E-Ink, that the screens would all look the same. Unfortunately I was wrong. Sony has included a film or be used to support a different glass in the Eink the touch screen function, and as a result of the added glare. I thought I could get used to it. But after three days that I had perfect lighting and even a burden, I gave up. I compared it to a friend of mine that once had only a Kindle and Kindle-envy.

2) PDF support sucks! One of the reasons why I bought the Sony Reader, it was supposedly better than the PDF support Kindle. Perhaps it is a small notch in advance, but it sucks. This is unfortunate, because I wanted to get rid of all my thousands of sheets of printing PDF files. That has not happened. Now I have to wait maybe one or two years to realize my dream, almost paperless (as is currently the Kindle PDF support is not good.)

3) Free books are not only for the Sony Reader. I thought this was the case. All the free books from Google Books are also suitable for the Kindle.

4) I found that the Kindle easier, with its larger form factor, in the hand.

So there you have it! Avoid this and get a Kindle.

Summary: Easy To Use - Supports PDF/DOC Formats
I've tested both the Sony and the Kindle. Here are some pros and cons for the Sony.

Pros:

- Pro # 1 - Native support for PDF / DOC files, and NO FEE to the types of documents upload to the device, unlike the Kindle, a fee for the conversion of documents fees. This means you can order books or other documents that you want, without (read the hastle of converting or paying for it).
- Easy to use. The touchscreen is a definite plus! Plays music, displays pictures.
- Battery lasts a long time. I have it for a week and hardly it has up to 2 bars. Charges quickly.
- Books download super fast.
- Mine came with a protective cover. It is a neoprene bag that works very well. I ordered another case at the same time and wish I had not, but I'm sure I'll wear this one out.
- Smaller than a Kindle ... about the same weight ... easy to hold, but to be honest, that was B & N Nook convenient than any other.

Cons:

- The words are not as crystal clear as the Kindle (probably because of the touch-screen layer), but easy to complete. Who has not, again a Kindle probably will not notice it.
- No 3G connection, but no problem as long as you load stuff in the vicinity of a computer too.
- The Sony Store application is good, but not many free books I could find there. This is not such a big deal. But the part of the application is loading files on a little clumbsy. Easy to use, but could be improved.

I would recommend the Sony if you load a lot of PDF / Word / TXT files plan. You save money and hastle on the Kindle. But if you were planning on just a lot of books that'll buy you read, and I the Kindle or the B & N recommend Nook. Hope this helps.

Summary: Excellent Reader ... But it is a Sony.
I have come to trust the Sony name over the years so when it came time to splurge on a reader, I decided to give to try their products. Although it may not contain every feature on your wish list, it is quite a remarkable device quite satisfactory and in this phase of the evolutionary process eBook Reader.

While I enjoy the occasional novel, my main goal in purchasing the device I was allowed to provide quick access to reference materials and useful documents to have in my profession as a lawyer. With the ease of loading PDF, Word, RTF, TXT, epub, and easily converted into other formats, it has exceeded my expectations. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional, which I create my own documents in PDF format, to easily and I was very impressed with the handling of the reader from them. Dual-column documents in either portrait or landscape, and if the font size is through the menu of the reader, they seamlessly sides and bottom of a column increases are considered then the others. Embedded within the pdf links work yet, that you would simply navigate through the reader.

The memory chip slots on the device allow me just a lot of transporting many concert of documents with the device. Whether access to a document from the inserted memory card or from the on-board memory, the access is fast and smooth.

The Reader software library is available free from SONY-of-charge, which makes document management a breeze. I have yet to consult the manual to find the operation of the software and the reader quite intuitive.

Battery life is another plus, as it always seems to go between charges. Charging it to your computer via the USB connection means that the optional battery charger is an unnecessary luxury.

Probably the most important selling point on this particular Sony Reader is the ability to highlight, underline, and add handwritten or typed notes to documents. This allows me to comment on documents quickly and easily while away from a computer. I can not imagine a reader without this ability to be very useful for me.

The MP3 player is a nice extra that allows me to listen to music, audio books or anything else in the MP3 format in the car. I am the stereo jack for the reader and the input jack on my car stereo. It's just an extra in the cast is not really crucial for function of the reader.

Documents and files can not only comment but also deleted from the device without connecting to a PC. This is handy if you find duplicate or unwanted documents, materials on the reader.

I imagine that develop as readers, it is backlit, color and more in the future, but right now I am more than satisfied with the product. The complaints about glare screen seem a little rediculious me there's nothing with a plastic surface with some dazzling, if the correct angle. A simple adjustment of the angle and glare is gone. The ability to set the font size on the Reader for some documents to increase more than offset any difficulties in reading the text.

While the latest Sony Reader, which already costs a little more, wireless access to the book store contains, I can not find valuable to me at this time. I'm on the computer every day, and the addition of a downloaded document for the reader takes only a few seconds and keeps the battery topped up to the reader.

I find that many retailers the opportunity to test the product for 14 days and if not satisfied return for a full refund. Given the option, there is nothing more to give to try to lose this model. I did it and was sold almost immediately.

This device should give you a solid reliable reader, to create the next generation entices you to upgrade.

Summary: Glad I bought it.
I bought this after trying the PRS-900 and realization I had no need for a 3G connection. Most of my books that I have the downloads and keeps me reading. I am glad to read again and can not wait to get some time to read.

I held a Kindle, but was glad to buy the Sony. I enjoy the open technology and the ability to receive books from any store, and the use of the library. But appearances can be a problem, but I'm paying attention, dass I would buy from again.

Summary: Good device, bad reader
How many reviews have said, both here and on other sites, this is an amazing device. The device itself is intuitive, the touch screen is well made, it's like a tank and navigating through the screens and develop all the different tools, is simple and well thought out.

My only problem: I can not read books on the subject. The glare / reflection gives me a nasty headache after less than an hour. It is because of the touch screen is layered on top of the E Ink screen. I actually returned, as is an electronic reading device is not useful if I can read comfortably for long periods. Many people say they can ignore the appearance that match angle, etc. If you: more power to you. Personally I do not believe I want to read about fishing it just like that, my book, take care of. I want to forget, I am with one device.

That is, if I return it, I bought a Sony Pocket Edition (PRS-300, a step down, and without touchscreen). If you have the illusion that you enjoy it. If you're not, take a look at the Pocket Edition.

Summary: Good Job Sony.

Let me say first that I have no connection with either Sony or Amazon.

My wife has installed a global Kindle 2 with the latest software. The Kindle is a very nice product. I have the PRS-600 in black. I must say that the Kindle screen has a little more contrast. But overall, if I use a vote against the other, would get a total of 4.9 and the Sony, the Kindle 4.25.

The software in the Sony is almost perfect. I still have to freeze and stop responding to touch and works flawlessly. The software is very intuitive and very easy to understand.

It is amazing how small and compact, this unit is to compare the Kindle. With the Sony OEM case it will almost fit in your pocket. The MP3 player works great and the dictionary is very good.

But we come to what was this piece of ..... Read books designed. The Sony bookstore is more than sufficient, and almost exactly like the Amazon store prices. The ability to obtain library pounds, is wonderful. I've heard complaints about the Reader software, but it's really not that difficult if the instructions are on the reader in the form of a zip file that can easily on any desktop or reader even be asked to read.

The memory is expandable, like an SD or Memory Stick card can add. This is possibly the best feature and offers virtually unlimited storage capacity. Some PDF files are large and the Kindle just cannot handle many large files, MPS, etc.

I glare on the screen and even to have heard it is a problem. The contrast on the Kindle is better, but the reader is very friendly and the eye should not be a problem.

The lack of wireless isn't really a concern. Books are downloaded and moved to the reader via USB. The procedure is simple and fast and leaves a copy on your computer, which is nice.

Finally, I must say I'm surprised look on the reader. The lack of wireless is not even a thought, when I have a cell phone, laptop computer, Internet access. The legibility is excellent and the software properly. The build quality is excellent and after market batteries are now available and can be replaced by removing 2 screws. The Kindle is also nice, but I think Sony got it right with this one.

Summary: Good reader
Pros:
1.) Supported formats. I like that I simply pdf/word/txt/jpeg/mp3 can directly copy into the reader, infact even without using the software.
2.) touchscreen: not as sophisticated as iPhone, but works well.
3). Expandable memory: You can simply plug the SD card and then expand the memory. Kindle is not expandable

Cons:
1.) glare but it's not fret so much about you. You can remedy by simply tilting it slightly
2.) Software - Full of bugs and keeps crashing and very limited functionality
3rd disappear) images in pdf or distorted when you change the font size to anything other than small

I compared it to ignite and found other non-touch like Foxit reader, and that the reading experience is not as good as them, but you get an advantage of touch-screen here. Overall, I like it and keep it.

Summary: Great product- wouldn't want anything different
that until the Apple Tablet (or whatever it's going to be called, comes from).

For now, I love my readers and have read more than 50 books about them. I would be a reader, as a rule for anyone who travels or goes away much recommended because you can have as many books as you want with you and do not have information about ongoing or reading material or a job, take care to keep them in your luggage . The only reason why I is not the Sony Reader 5 stars if they are next to the ignition, the text is not nearly as perfect and book-like. If you do not do it side by side text the reader looks good and is easy on the eyes. I read much in low to no light, so that the backlight is the most important feature to me so I would never be a Kindle. The negative is the backlight drains the battery faster. If you can not use it all day, you need to read, with a fee. I bought a power cord (as compared to the USB charger that comes with it) so I could read while I was free. If you wish, you can wirelessly download books, or read a book to your Kindle is a better choice, but if you download pounds in advance, as I do, and how to read them yourself, the reader is a good choice for the price.

Summary: Handsome Transition to Paperless
EReaders I did my homework before deciding to pick up this one. Obviously, the Kindle and other similar devices, such as Nook was an attractive choice, but in the end I bought the product because it is more in line with my personal reading habits. The reader allows me to highlight passages and collect them in notes for later. In particular, the features enabled me to make the transition to an eReader.

If you decide to finally get them to ensure, that you pick up the cover with the light because it does not get rid of the light from the sun, called the Other, and improve the overall experience. Battery performance is excellent, and you'll find a decent (and growing) selection of content out there, the selection for Kindle rival. Which is another plus with this reader, that, with the ePub file format that is used by local libraries, is compatible.

The fact that eBooks are cheaper than new books, and run faster than that by fast downloads, I am in total belief that this was a good investment.

Summary: I like my Reader
Well, I finally broke down and got my first eBook reader. I do not know if me or what but I think I weigh about the weight of a hard-back book but I have almost 5 dozen books on it now.

Mostly I think I like my readers. Certainly, unlike the "real" book. And I think it takes to use some more. Give yourself some time.

I'm having trouble reading in bed and the blinding light on the bedside table, hits the reader just the thing.

But I like to be able to, the font size I want change.

I like my cover.

I can turn pages by pressing a finger over the glass or by pressing a button. This is a bit cumbersome. I think I'd be able to touch the screen to turn the page, but this is only pinching me.

All in all, I like to be able to travel with a lot of books to choose from, as the mood suggests. I no longer have to make a whole separate duffel bag full of books to amuse me pack.

I can read, while my readers with the power cord for free. I only use when I'm transferring my USB pounds from my computer to the reader. I also like the ability (to save all my purchases on the hard drive and burn) to CD, because if I reformat the hard disk, which I have to do it again on the computer to have again. And maybe invite you again.

Summary: I prefer the iTouch
I have this reader, the Kindle2 and iTouch. I prefer the backlight and the light weight of the iTouch. Kindle comes easy in the next, and the Sony is a disappointing purchase for a few reasons I explain in the stars, and only for a good negative reaction to his whole way of providing eBooks for the reader. If I could only hold a book reader, it would be the iTouch (and I'm not a fan of Apple), but two would be the best of all worlds, the Kindle and the iTouch would make life more enjoyable.

Summary: It's a keeper
I did not want an e-reader, so when my husband gave me for Christmas, I was ready to "try" to like it, and then feeling bad, as I asked back, to it. I was wrong! I can not do the thing off. I never another e-reader, but from that what I saw, I think this is the best choice for me.
1. I like the simplicity of the screen. I've seen pictures of the other e-readers, and it seems that a bulky entire keyboard is always visible. There are 5 very thin keys on the ground - and nothing else.
2. Touch screen. Touch screen makes it so easy. a quick swipe of the finger, and your page is turned. I love to be able to directly select the text to create circle words, notes. In each book, pull the sheet music, you touch the note you want to go back, and it takes you straight to the pitch. Perfect for book club discussions.
3. Formats - I love that I can read various formats of text, and that if my local database updates, I will be able to borrow, books! Fantastic! I also own a copy of the book on my laptop. Wonderful.
4. Durability - I've read reviews from other readers (mostly Kindle) screens cracking. I have no real knowledge, but my readers crazy is stable. It has pleased my bedside table for a couple of occasions, and I've never thought to be worried. It still works perfectly.
5. FREE books - now granted, I have bought many books, too, but I was amazed at how many books I could get for free by Google and the Sony bookstore (recent publications).

Overall, I read fast, I love my books organized in conjunction with me, and I may never go in a position to return to paper! I'm almost always around my laptop so I can not see me "need" the ability to wirelessly download books, but I can see why would that be a good option - but again ... I probably would buy WAY too many books! I'm already a bit addictive!

Summary: Just What I Need and No More
I watch the e-reader offers for about two years waiting to get prices down and to work for the "early adopters" to The Kinks and get the real story out there. I also wanted to ensure that the planned obsolescence not add a feature that would in 18 months that I wanted after I had bought this book. Once I had bought a reader who had reached, I wanted it to last. I'm not like some who fall into the trap buying traffic and the next generation, all 18 months. I want it to last and features that I will use it.

I had the Sony Reader, in most cases preferable, though, the Kindle had fascinated me when it came out and I was tempted. But the Kindle is DRM encrusted and limited in what you do about it. The Sony is not (at least not yet anyway). I already have a transcript, they created a bit of formatting in Word for readability and a PDF reader to the load. Simple. With the support of the ePub format, I can even read books from my local library (which does support ePub ebooks. If it is a feature that you want to check with your local library, make sure to support them or see who is seen and if you can get a card from them). Apart from the DRM issues (and remove the potential to reach pounds and how she recently with Orwell's 1984 without the consent of the owners), the Kindle and the Nook B & N said "call home to report" what Read and What's On Your readers (presumably specific products that will hand ... like a nice idea, but these can be used in other dubious way that I simply can not care market. Plus, I'd like to read, but not in be placed on traffic.)

The interface is simple to understand, especially for those who have the growers phones. There's really nothing. I like the Reader's software, but rather caliber than a few more features I like. Either works well, and if one of the advantages of Sony supplied software is it has a direct access to the Sony ebook library maintains. From her shop, you can get books, fairly reasonable and competitive prices (I'm a tightwad, I checked around).

The E Ink technology is great if you need to do to have enough light to read it. This kind of point as a backlight for a phone or netbook can be a strain on the eyes. The text sizing works great, and although it sometimes inserts with the formatting, it is not all that bothersome and annoying and is easy to get used to. I think the Small setting is useless, because I can read anyone know the text that small. Apart from this, the text is created in any size. And the thing with e-Ink, that once the page is written: "It is no use more juice. So battery life, depending on the application and if you have a reading light is plugged in or not, all modified for a while. I had it only once in three weeks rather stable reading for free.

The Sony Reader is not already wireless connectivity, but I did not really matter, dass With 26 pounds to the cause and connection to a PC or Mac, why do I have wireless. That seemed just a feature that was put in because there is an expectation and not really Germane to what the reader (at least for me).

OK, some negative. The refresh time may be shorter, but I understand why it is not. I'm already used to turn the page / refresh rate that some others have mentioned as troublesome, but there is a long delay in the arrival on the main screen and another book (I read three to five pounds at a time, a Switch to lot.) But this is only what, maybe 5 seconds or so in total? Come on people ... Breath. Not everything is moving at the speed of light. The thickness is a bit of a problem, too. I wish it was actually thicker. I have big hands and it's a little difficult, such a thin "book" between thumb and forefinger pinched for a long time. I was actually talking designing a protector of what you can for mobile phones, had the padding on the back, to thicken the deep and there is more of a paperback book .... to make it easier to get hold. If someone make a lot of money on the idea, do it and let me know.

Overall, this is for the reader I wanted to. It has the features I * need * and not everyone that I do not everything that comes in their way. It is not the fantasy one gives, and I can within bounds, I will not be expected to run, but it is enough to read and read with much. And for the price I'm sold (of course). That's what I wanted, and the Sony Reader I got it.

Summary: Light and easy
I confess this is my first and only ereader date, and perhaps this is why I am I give the unit 5 *. I love it.

Pros:

It's easy. The touch screen allows a keyboard unnecessary, saving on non-screen space, and thus volume and weight. It is also thinner than most paperbacks.

Ease of use. The interface on the ereader is intuitive and easy navigation is done with the help of a few buttons or the touch screen. It is easy to determine, by creating on the screen or typing on a virtual keyboard.

Built-in dictionary. Double-click on a word automatically opens the dictionary: a tool I have to be very useful when reading older texts.

Handwritten notes. It's easy to add notes to my text with the stylus on the touch screen, and they can be on my laptop to print or upload, whatever. Highlighting text is also made easy.

Expandable memory. In the event, 512 MB is not enough, there are two memory card slots built

The lifespan of the battery. I read a lot and never really switch off my ereader, and I will use at least a week between charges.

EPUB. The reader supports EPUB, an open format for eBooks. This means that I can easily buy books from dozens of online ebook sellers, shop around for the best price or for free download from sites like Project Gutenberg or Manybooks.net. Could I get all the books by Lovecraft's online without costs, as well as hundreds of other public sector works very simply. It also means that it can not with these formats, I'm locked, only reading them on a device that is very important to me. For non-English speaking, makes the selection of books in other languages EPUB the best option, IMO.

Cons:

The touch screen makes the screen more reflective and gives less contrast than some other models like the Kindle, or so I heard. I've never held them together, so I'm not sure how big difference. I find it a simple matter to tilt the screen, is to reduce the glare. To be honest, I hardly ever notice it in normal lighting conditions.

The Sony Library software is appalling: Buggy, catchy aesthetically disturbing. Fortunately, there is an open source alternative) (Caliber, which works very well.

No internet/3G. Not really a huge problem. I can download books on my laptop, load them on a memory card or directly on my ereader, and go. Browsing on the Kindle is not available in Europe but anyway (or was not when I bought the Sony), so there is little advantage here whispernet in Sweden.

No Audible. It would be really nice to play my Audible books on my ereader, but unfortunately this device does not support Audible, and is probably not in the future.

Overall, the convenience of a touchscreen is more than compensated for the glare and reflection issues. I urge anyone who is considering to review this or any other ereader to as many as they can before you buy "in the flesh." Do not be discouraged by reports of glare or low contrast - it's not really as bad as some of it to be out.

Summary: Love it, just love it!!!
I love my Sony eReader. A big plus is that you save all eBooks Download, not only books from the company, what I heard, Kindle and do another. Since I bought it to me not a single book to buy! All you in the Internet, if you find enough patients. I am a great lover pounds, so I saved quite a lot of money for me.
It is very easy to frizz sometimes (very rarely, twice for the last 6 months), light weight, compact design, nice app to use - with painters pen, it can be your child and of course the dictionary, very helpful, sometimes give.
one more thing, this reader can read other languages, even those that are not listed there, I'm Russian, and he reads my books perfectly.
Overall, I love it! Strongly recommended.
Good luck Thanks for reading

Summary: ME CAMBIÓ LA VIDA

Summary: Not a Kindle substitute
Frankly, I do not think the reader nearly reached the bar set by the Kindle. With iTunes and other programs, why do you want something else, the space on your computer? Wiireless No, not a single unit product, charger specific (it would have been nice if I heard of Sony and not a fellow unhappy customers), horrible and impractical (battery life, stupid idea for a new pen your touch screen if you spend the majority of your time reading from it) and, frankly, a far more limited selection of books on the Sony Reader's Store. The mere fact that it shows no wireless and self-storage in this model that it is a poor competitor for the Kindle, and while we like our creature comforts in exchange for a touch screen, I have an "e-book" who died for me on a journey, not demand, because no one told me you need a special USB port adapter, even if the reader has a USB connection to show, and that made me buy a book instead. The "written word" people as opposed to e-books say: "I told you so" right now. I think Amazon as a set of questions through the e-book concept was presented and treated before they released the Kindle:

Efficient energy consumption, wireless capability, stand-alone download and book storage, portable, offers a large selection. Improved only in areas: a larger screen and more widespread wireless connectivity (oh, that's right, they have already done so).

Sony:
-No wireless capabilities (a laptop / desktop is req'd.) Smaller unit book storage, more limited selection, unclear instructions to turn off unit (it goes to the first sleep, you must hold the power button for longer to get it off ) charger with specific really poor battery life, combines a user-friendly touch screen (although it def. No iPod Touch), really a lot less expensive than what you for a Kindle.

Summary: Not that good
I bought this product thinking it would be better than the reader than Kindle. Everything works great up to the glare on the screen when indoors. It is very difficult to read, turn it off like, you have to keep playing with the point of view, until the screen is readable. It works fine when you are out there.

The touch screen is not like the iPhone. The keyboard is very simple, but not as good as the iPhone keyboard. I wish to add it auto cap and the auto '. " for double room.

For $ 300 its overpriced and I would recommend the Kindle.

Summary: OK but doesn't stand up to competition

Conclusion: It is a device, but OK dollar for dollar, it is not as good as the Kindle.

If you need to be able to write directly to your readers with a pen even at the cost of an extra ~ $ 100, 3G connectivity, screen glare and poor contrast ratio. Then this is the e-reader for you.

PS The Kindle prints random pictures on his screen before going off as just empty, not really a function, but it's a nice gesture at the expense of almost no extra batteries to meet.

Summary: Overall, very good
I was the debate between this and the 2nd Kindle I'm glad that went with the Sony, the only negative that I can think is that appearances can sometimes be a pain if the inside, as others have said, in the open its not really a problem. Even so the glare is easily solved by a few degrees of adjustment in your perspective. The device is simple to use and easy to add, books on the device. This thing has replaced a very 4 difficult textbooks, so if possible, my back would only rate this 5 stars too. I find myself with to charge the device only about once a week, and I do read quite a lot too. To be honest, the Kindle2 was in order, I think you would be happy with either device, which only a matter of personal taste.

Summary: Pleasure reading
I love the PRS-600. I have it around Christmas time in the selling and went home and set it on both my laptop and my Mac Book. Both systems process the software first. My only problem when I first purchsed it was the lack of available books. But that was fixed easilly By other ebook stores, and Adobe with the software. I originally was making us for a nook or Kindle ... but I was impatient and wanted my readers ASAP.

The Sony Reader allows me to 4 or more books I read all wear the same time, without having to bear a larger bag. I can do it in direct sunlight as easily as in the interior. The removable media was the real deal maker for me. I can load MP3s on the memory card and use the internal memory and the additional card for books. Do not forget to see the landscape in comparison to the standard-view-mentioned option, it allows me to read more easily.

though if you are looking for a device that is more than a ton of books and MP3s is a laptop, then do not.

All in all, read it a great device, easy, very good extra features (notes, high lighting, even using dog eared pages!), Collection options, pictures, clear, easy-to-screen, perfect for me.

Summary: Prepared to hate it
I was prepared to hate this and take it back based on user reviews posted here as well as several other sites I viewed after purchase, but I don't. Two weeks in, I have enjoyed tremendously the ability to carry multiple books in a single device. I looked at the Kindle and the Nook before deciding to keep the Sony. The biggest selling features for me were the expansion slots, the ability to use multiple media formats and the touch screen interface. Some reviewers are displeased with the glare they experience as well as lack of contrast when compared to the Kindle and other device options, I was not bothered by this. As I understand it, the touch screen interface is the reason for the glare and non-crisp contrasting, as the touch screen interface requires an additional layer of `glass' which may mitigate some of the crispness. I'm not bothered by this because I would not want a dedicated keyboard for a device like this. The add-ins, for me, outweigh the tradeoffs. I rather appreciate the heft of the device as it makes me feel that it can withstand a good drop, and it has. Thankfully, it was in a cover and the drop didn't result in loss of life or usability. The software is quite clunky as stated by many users but since I only use it for data interchange it's fine. All in all, as the foray into e-readers comes more to the forefront the better the devices, interfaces, product availability and support will be. Until then, this suits my needs just fine.

Summary: Screen is awful!
The Sony eReader is great in all aspects except the one that matters most: the screen. Before I bought it I read reviews saying that it is too much glare and contrast, not much has. I underestimated the contributions (especially after I said a critic, he could always get rid of glare by tilting the screen, read a bit) ... Now I regret my purchase.

It turns out that the screen is also very thoughtful, so it is very difficult, the device in a way that I have both the glare from any light source in the room and also to ensure that my face reflected on the screen (as much as to avoid position I like myself I find very annoying). to do with a little reflection on the screen (in the competition for the attention of your eye), combined with its low contrast for a poor reading experience.

The idler is that I had taken a look at the Sony Reader in the duty free store at the airport and did not notice any problem with the screen.

Shame on Sony for such a bad design. Sony used to buy a safe to see, so sad, what they are doing to their brand. A decent consumer electronics company would never as a product of the faulty door.

Summary: So much better

I had the 505, and had really not much interest in the cell or WiFi access to the store, so I on the Touch upgrade for the speed ... and yes, it is much more snappy than the 505, or my friend Kindle. Page turn, is fast, but if you go back 10 pages to check something, there is no comparison. drag-&-hold, or simply holding the previous page button and the screen "flip-flip-flip-flip" faster than you can read three words on each page.

On the 505, after updating the library and disconnect from the computer, there was a wait, "go get a cup of coffee long," while the reader up the internal database. At the touch when I disconnect and turn it on, I see the hourglass, then turn to the library about to close on the computer to look back and ready.

The dictionary and search functions work as advertised, and the music features are kinda nifty, if you're reading something that reminds you depart later on something. (Look up a recipe for Chicken Kiev!).

And I have not noticed a difference at all in the screen. (some people have said that it has problems glare)

Maybe it's just the light I read, but I have not seen more shine or lack of sharpness it with my old readers.

And .. It is more beautiful than the old one. The black bezel is smooth.

Summary: The best one available to date!
I can not say enough good things about my Sony Reader! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! There are a lot of really great in depth reviews here, I do not feel it necessary to get much in the properties themselves. I am a book lover can not get enough of it and even books, and was not at first if I even wanted to try to secure an e-reader. Well, I have one but I just love it and can not put it down. I plan to keep my favorite books, but look forward to many more to replace and release distance around my home.

I see that some people have complained about the glare, but I have no problem with that. There is a slight glare from the glass needed to make it a touch screen ... But do any of these screen protectors and there is the problem. is not that it was a problem really, because all you have to do to tilt the screen a little and the glare is gone. The only thing I dislike about the reader, and all of the readers for that matter, there is no light in the night to read built. It seems to me that this is a no brainer that we would like to have built in lights. But I was able to find a decent leather book cover, a built-in light for the reader and encourage you to get one.

Sony Reader generally carried all my books in my bag in the car, travilling, airplane and fill my time instead of wating BB chating! My eyes, you feel good instead of laptop screen, which they killed.
Believe me, this is the best device I have for the next 3 years.
I miss the internal light comes in PRS700

Summary: Touch vs Glare
I have used the Touch Edition PRS-600 for a little over a month and have read 3 complete books so far. Beyond stating that the glare is easily avoided and the touch screen is fast, easy and efficient, I am only going to review one feature because it would take me forever to present all of the great features of this device. On one book, I highlighted over 120 entries. Here is where the Touch really shines. It is very easy to highlight with the stylus after your first 3-4 attempts and you get the hang of it. I can't imagine doing it any other way. The notes made for each book are stored separately or together (you choose) and can be searched or re-sorted according to attribute (by page#, by comment, by type) Furthermore the highlights can be annotated individually (up to 2000 characters) with an on-screen "soft" keyboard (why take up extra room and sacrifice reading space like on the Kindle). Notes can be hidden or displayed within the pages. When you have completed a book, you can export the notes to your computer, and print, edit or email. Mine export to .rtf file format and I read/edit them in word. You can also synchronize notes between the computer and reader but I have not used this feature. There are many erroneous statements made here about the PRS-600 simply due to ignorance in fully reading user instructions. You can read the content of the reader while plugged into the computer, by the way (on your monitor). I will update this review with other features if people find this useful.

Summary: Unfortunately....I love my Sony E-Reader Touch
I love this thing. I was surprised in a Kindle 2 in the search for safe and was very excited and a little bit when my husband ... who does not even know I wanted an eReader .... surprised me with the Sony Touch for Christmas. I wanted to make any excuse or to find what I do not like this could eReader for my heart was set on the Kindle. But after it ended a week or two, up loving it. Yeah, was the contrast is a problem for me at first and I thought it was clear that protector on when I first. I bought the Sony coverage with built-in light that is awesome. Solves any problem contrary, and I can keep it like a real book. Also, I found myself trying to turn over pages! I love the easy access to the dictionaries and the ability to keep notes. I have downloaded music and pictures on the reader. I have over a hundred books on it so far. As the readers getting for Christmas, I have more novels than I would read in a year have read! Because of the ability to change the font size, it makes it easier and quicker to finish a book. The reader is now like my Blackberry Storm (which I have installed Kindle), I do not leave home without it.

Oh, I only calculate the readers once a week, and I read it for hours a day. And even then I had left a bar. Acessorized I have mine with a zebra-print skin.

One thing that I do not like is that the Sony store does not have a large selection of one kind of books I like to read. But no problem .... I have therefore Kindle for BlackBerry.

Summary: Why I Chose the Sony over the Kindle
First of all I would say that I NEVER write reviews, but always to all other hanging at the foot of work to do for me. In this case, I was very much on the appointment of a Kindle or Sony PRS-600 torn. Luckily I had both and was able to do a comparison side by side. So, I know that multiple comparisons were already made and individually we all have different expectations for an eBook reader. This is an explanation of how the Sony fulfilled my expectations about the Kindle and these are my observations, hopefully someone will benefit from them.

Front I become a large part of the shortcomings of the reader, have already been dealt address. Firstly, it has no Wi-Fi or 3G capability. They have books for download onto your computer then to the reader. I did not imagine that as a problem because in most cases, I think, if I go I will be enough time in advance to the books I want to download, or I just want to have my laptop with me.

The touchscreen of the Sony to produce not more shine and this is the area where the undisputed Kindle outshines the Sony. Having said that, yes, it is blinding, but it is not so annoying that you are not reading you can do to focus. And it is a touch screen! I have also taken an order for an aftermarket anti-glare film that hopefully improve the problem.

The software is at best okay. It is basic file transfer and management. Bio-edit metadata would have been ideal for those of us who are OCD about file organization and management. But I'm a Mac user and know how to work around. Also caliber is out there and it is a phenomenal ebook management tool, no matter what reader you use, and freeware. Caliber also allows for file conversion between almost all eBook file types.

The Sony bookstore offers the same tracks, including Amazon Kindle Store, and they are exactly the same prices for all titles that I compared.

The Sony feels like it just made better. It is slightly heavier and I have a feeling it could be a short drop handle better than the Kindle.

The Sony allows for increased storage with the SD and Memory Stick Duo card slots.

The touch screen is very easy to use and is what I would be a cross between the iPhone and the BlackBerry Storm screen name. It handles soft touch and steals, but you also get a slight "click" feedback when you press on them, how to use the BB Storm.

Like the Kindle sits very comfortably in the hand and allows for both portrait and landscape views are. It also has the same features as the dictionary of the Kindle, you see in the definitions as you can read it. The page turn buttons are not located and the Kindle, but the touch-screen function Swipe makes up for it. It's like turning the page on a real book.

The battery life is excellent for a day. I had it for over a week it is still quite full, was charged only one time after I got it, and I read daily. Some have complained about Sony is not also a battery charger to the reader. For those of you with a PSP, it's the same charger and all aftermarket charger PSP to accept.

All in all, the differences are subtle, so I think I had to make a deliberate side comparison. If you are unsure which is right for you readers should perhaps do the same.

Summary: WHY WON'T IT CHARGE????? It hates me.
When I actually have been able to bring this up and running, it has a lot of fun. But IT is not charged for any reason. It only uses a USB cable, and decide it only now and again, she wants to charge or not. I put the iMac and to charge, and other times I got it for a few days left, connected to a (presumably) for free, and all that comfortable with it only to find it from the battery dead. She says she is connected, so I think it is charging, but no. What has gone the sand? I have to keep unplugging the USB cable and check whether it is really loaded. I do not know how to go through all the fear and paranoia, just to read. I'm beginning to think it hates me.

I hate it that I can not use it while it is charging (or not loaded properly)

Summary: Works well but there's glare
Ebook reader to compare the extent of current books, I love it. It is very light, lighter, use it as some big pounds, saves space in your home, you can customize letters "sizes and all you can already tell from publicity. Surprisingly, what I was most thumbed through my fingers across the screen swipping liked.
Well, when it comes to comparisons with other readers, I'm not sure this is the best thing would be. It is a question glare and I notice it every time I start reading. It feels like I need more light to be confortable with it. However, it does not prevent them from me to use it and I forgot to end it after a while. I have an anti-glare screen protector that helps a little.
I love the touch screen feature and the built-in dictionary, a lot, but I'm not sure if I can not be happier with a reader that has no glare.

Summary: Worth buying

So back to the Sony touch. I chose the Sony over the Kindle Touch 2 for the following reasons:

1) the ability to reflow PDFs (The Kindle 2 is not so good deal)

2) I did not want to be locked in the Amazon store, I have already downloaded lots of free books on Google, for example. Granted, Sony bookstore and Google do not have the same type of content such as Amazon. However, Sony can epub books on certain public libraries in the U.S. download if you are a member.

3) I like the touch screen. It is true that there is a small amount of glare, which is reported as other users by simply adjusting the angle of the fixed use. Actually this is not all that dissimilar to a laptop monitor. Of course, the E Ink technology on the eBook Reader, much easier on the eyes.

4) The Touch Reader allows you to write and compile, handwritten notes with the stylus. As an academic, I find this very useful.
5) Sony has expandable memory sockets.

Finally, because the Sony is not backlit touch - makes it easier once again on the eyes - you will be a night light for reading is required on the device. I bought a "Kandler," which works well.

If your priority is to provide a device with which you can wirelessly download books, where you must go, then a Kindle or Sony 2 Daily Edition is what you need. I'm perfectly happy downloading pounds via a USB port on my PC.

The Sony Touch Edition comes with a neoprene-style bag, but I find this completely adequate.

I have this unit four stars because the reflow PDFs does not work perfectly with all the documents. Sony must be based on this work. The zoom function is very good, but you are not able to make notes in this mode. And every time you pages in zoom mode, the device automatically takes you out of zoom mode. Of course, there is a dispute then keep zoom allow each side to turn. However, if you plan to read books, you probably will not have to use the zoom function, and do not interfere with these niggles. Reading books is a much better experience than reading PDFs, and the text is made easy, with no major disturbances text. However, if you primarily looking for a device that can work with PDFs, the larger screen of the Sony or the Kindle Edition Daily DX can be worth extra bucks.
