Summary: Buyer beware!
Had my little readers for two years and decided to send my readers to Sony for the upgrade rather than buying a new reader in January. It came back quickly, but had Gouges on the screen from a box cutter! Sony said they would fix it for $ 400! The claim that it happened. Each survey they sent to me since I have my reasons why not to business with them is not given more to do! Last week, want a Sony rep, the battery that would not update last more than a few hours, and he said they would to fix my screen. So I sent the thing back in and did it again today with the same box cutter Gouges. I emailed the repair group and rose again that they are not responsible for and the device works fine!
Just bought a Nook!

Summary: Great, but new buyers need more info

Honestly, there are much better reviews out there than I can write myself, but I believe that every purchase of this version of the Sony Reader (requires 500) for more information. In November 2009, Sony has a mail reader to current 500 owners can be issued knowing that they update the 500 firmware to be able to use another form of e book and it will not work if they do not updated. This is not a simple plug-in and load it yourself can run, you need your readers in this email to have the update. They say it takes 14 days to get back to your readers, I know that when I bought my readers in this period, and found out after the fact, that I would ship it immediately back to Sony for an update for two weeks I will be ticked. This is not to say you should not buy one, just know that when you buy this version, the first generation of readers, you see, have to send it to them. Enter a prepaid shipping label to ship it to them, so there are no shipping costs for you and they do the update for free and send them back, you pay nothing extra, except for your shipping and packaging materials.

How do I upgrade to the reader sans, I have no problems with it, I can easily carry several books, the battery holds a surprisingly long time, the pages are easy to read and font size is adjusted very easily. I hope that when you buy a card reader, no matter which version you like, we can enjoy it as I do.

Summary: I looove it!

I have been waiting to buy the eBook, as it came out. I finally released some cash and bought it used. It is great! Easy to use and comfortable. I miss the smell of a paperback book and the feeling of a book, a little, but that is definitely not! For an avid reader ... this is a must have!

Summary: Really enjoy the product

I have not compare the "real" time to the Kindle but I have to I like this product much more than I had expected to say.

Moving forward, I just could not see myself again my physical books.

Summary: Sony = JUNK

NOOOOOO Do not let the Sony model! It is JUNK! I had one for 3 months and it broke twice! For the first time Bestbuy replaced it but the second time it was after the 30-day return policy (yes, it broke in 3 weeks) and the second time it broke not Sony want to fix, she says I broke the SCREEN! I did not break the screen The screen is fragile and the framework for the Sony Reader is weak and flimsy! Definitely ruin a manufacturer. So I filled a complaint with the BBB, because Sony wanted to fix cost me $ 250 for a 300-dollar device. I told Sony to take a long walk of a short pier, and that I will never buy another Sony product EVER again.

I now have a Kindle and a year later, no problems! Same for the screen manufact FYI only a better picture that the abuse can handle. And I dropped my light the time!

Summary: Sony Portable Book Reader

Did not like the product. First, only works with Microsoft software, not Apple. The downloading of books from a Web site was confusing and we were never successful in downloading pounds.

We returned product and bought a 2nd Kindle Much better and easier to use.
