Summary: How did I go so long without one?

As a music fan for many years, I have for so long. resisted the temptation to buy an iPod. I wonder now why I waited so long!

I have a huge vinyl and CD collection that I have accumulated over the past 35 years.

I work out all my songs on the iPod, and that I must say I know how much I am impressed with a get it. I've downloaded over 2500 titles and has not even scratched the surface of the capacity of the iPod 160gig. Of course, like any article you do not have a full 160 gig, but the 149 gig you should get more than enough for your musical needs.

I think it would be easier to identify the capacity of the iPod with movies approach, but I personally can not see the point in watching movies on a small screen pocket. My 3 DVD Blue Ray edition of the new Star Trek movie contained the version of iTunes. I have on my iPod classic and although it was certainly worth the cheaper blue ray on my big flat-screen TV and surround sound system, a much richer experience. If you are on trains and planes that could travel a lot, it be useful to pass a few hours.

Unless you a great music collection of the 160 gig will have a bit of an overkill for most people, I would expect a 16 gig nano would work better, my wife has one of these and it is much smaller, lighter and rugged no moving Part of a hard drive not flash memory used. So my recommendation would be for most at the 16 gig nano or iPod touch 16 gig for those bells and whistles to go with your MP3 player like.

For music collectors like me, is the perfect gig iPod Classis 160.

The iPod is simple to use, the wheel and menu system is fairly intuitive and takes just minutes to master. The sound is good for a portable MP3 player, the included earphones sufficient. I would expect that I will be my headphones in the near future upgrading.

The iPod comes with a few extras, but these are just bling me, I bought the player for music and save a lot of them .... The iPod Classic 160 gig can play perfectly both.

5 stars for the players

1 star for the manual - and for the purchaser's claim to a half decent manual download from the Internet.

Summary: great ipod but bigger sometimes isnt better

It is a great position as soon as you start to synchronize music and then go and do something else with the snail like pace of the transfer of music files on the iPod uses. I want the 120gb personally just because it seems like a small percentage of the space is part of a house to go from Apple and it takes less time to load the music. Even the touch wheel is a little hard to get and maintain function includes use of silicon as the older generations

Summary: Linux friendly

Linux users may be afraid, to accommodate the 7 Generation, iPod classic, because there is not much information about how the two are compatible.

The good news is that Rhythmbox on Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty works wonderfully with this device. Not only does it create songs, as expected, but it also converts. Ogg files automatically, so there is no need to be with incompatible file formats.

The bad news is that neither recognized Banshee or Amarok. In addition, I have not made an automated way to get album artwork on your iPod using Rhythmbox mapped location. There seems to be possible manually, but it does affect each song.

There are several recent posts about a bug in the latest version of Ubuntu, which is a problem with Intrepid and not with the iPod, but it should not discourage it, a Linux user to 160GB worth of music that I have does not attempt to implement more videos of her bag.

Summary: No problem with the ipod mainly... but

Ok well I for my girlfriend for Christmas, she has, I think, a 4 gig or so, and ALWAYS hint was not enough space. So I decide to just get her the 160 gig and keeping them happy and quiet for a few years ago.

Now we have it fast, shipping was great and the iPod look very nice. We had him for a day, we have not even really touching Christmas, because they go to her cousins to sync with iTunes. Well, we had to do over night, there were about 5,000 songs available for download. Ya, a lot.

Thus, some 2,000 of them, it just stops COMPLETELY synchronization and BAM! Computer tells us, Hard Disk Error can not save files to the device. So the next day we call apple. The first person I spoke was so rude, I litterally discussed at him and asked him, things that you cannot eat say Infront of children. So I hang up and call again. First, a lady answers, she was much nicer and helpful, but it wouldnt be a repair facility after they made sure it wasn't the computer or iTunes brings confusion. I also wish to note that her cousin one, which we dubbed it the laptop with the same Ipod, he bought it at about the same time, and he has a Mac computer and download its songs well.

Anyway, I tried to explain to this woman, and they say simply, we need the computer Infront of us. He was a cousin from the city and no longer around, I tried to explain, but no results.

Fast enough to see whether Amazon my money safe, they would ... lol nice people we decide to call back early the next morning would be. Talk to this guy, and explain everything I went through the call of this place, and he helps me immediately and sent out a box. We have just sent them out and hope it will soon.

As for the iPod itself, its a great product, very nice and shiny and is 160 gig, if you like lots of music and want a few nice videos.

Im not sure if Amazon or Apple was his fault for sending a defective unit, but the service from ether in particular, that an experience calling SUCKS!

So hopefully you do not have the trouble we have done. I didn't give it a high score mainly because

A defective products sold to us and

B-Apple-call service ... has come to the worst I have ever known ... and believe me, I called a lot of different places.
