Summary: Absolute CRAP!!!
I've been trying for a week to get this thing up and running. After two calls to customer support, and download the software again, all I get a flashing X on the screen. Hours wasted! Crap software.

Summary: Awesome!!!
Never used with a kind of GPS, I knew nothing!. The TomTom, which I purchased is a fundamental piece of idiot-proof electronics. I am so very happy, and I highly recommend for anyone that is not an electronics guru, easy installation, commissioning and operation must have. Very clever of me!

Summary: Fast and reliable GPS
Advantages:

Very fast response time - I almost never have trouble finding a signal (only once in a snow storm ...)
Large screen, I sometimes (still hit the wrong button, when entering a street, but I think it's much more convenient than the smaller models)
The included TomTom holder works fine for me. I had to figure out that you have at the big plastic wheel after pressing it against the window again, but I have no problems since then.

Cons:

The menu could use a better structure, and I do not think that the settings are the structures very well.
The on-screen information (speed, time, time to destination, ...) is not properly labeled. Even if you disable it, I would prefer an intuitive distinction between these figures.
No spoken street names.

Neutral:

The announced "photorealistic" trace support shows the number of lanes for a given output. It works, but I expected this feature more advanced. It is not really move and is only a still image, but it does the job.

Summary:

Very nice GPS for a good price. If you have spoken street names - it is another version of this model available, which obviously had some memory issues (you'll need to delete some voices or languages of the GPS map updates) - it was a not a problem with this model.

very easy to install, but the map is not updated. You need to pay extra 20bucks. POI must be downloaded from the Internet, but just a few minutes to do, But for the money I paid, it's great for the value.

Summary: GPS

The Tom Tom GPS is my first. I've never had experience with another, but the device was easy to set up a really easy to use. It's nice to have someone tell you where to turn the tide and how accurately you to your destination. The large 4.3 "screen is a plus for this article. It came in plenty of time before Christmas.

Summary: Just what I needed

I needed a GPS for a good price and that's just it. It is everything that is around me and I like it when I speak a different turn to tell me how to get back on the road, without duplication. Very good for the price.

Summary: Learned my lesson...
I often rent a GPS when I am traveling, so I thought I had finally my own.
Started with the good price point-$ 80 125. for a Tom Tom Go There was the personalization and customization options ... not like the fact that he could not find a quick test, my work address, which has existed for 40 + years, but I do it by could not find on a map, so I just thought I could handle it. I could not agree with was that the unit would not switch if I have a soft reset EVERY TIME has (hold power button for 15 seconds ... not acceptable in my opinion). So I took it back and got an XL-340. Nice price for a big picture, which is one of the satellite connected and turned on more quickly, as it should. Still could not find my address, but at least I had a working GPS, I thought.
Then I installed the latest updates and calculates the whole night. The next morning, put on a big flashing red 'X'. This reset or update would fix it.
I called TomTom support. In defense of TomTom support reps are very courteous and knowledgeable (and US-based-a big plus in these days ...) it but a good 20 minutes or more, to get someone (possibly because of increased holiday?) . That would not have been so bad, except for their employees may not stay on the phone while you are walking through their recommended updates. I had 4 replicates, 3 of which gave me a few steps, then told me call you back. Later, 3 1 / 2 hours, they made me an RMA. Hmmm ... I think not. The thing was was 2 days old, I was not going to wait weeks to get a replacement to fight for a new get compared to a refurb, etc. So I have a Magellan. Not as flashy and friendly, but it's something to say, for a unit that only "work" ...

What I liked:
Beautiful screen
Customization options (voices, car icon, all of which are in a position to change themselves, or upload your own!)

What I do not:
Discrepancies card (if they do not have the address, you are simply out of luck! No menu on the "next option, it simply will not do a proposal. TomTom: submit a correction. Do not think so. I want accuracy out of the box.
Unclear how-operation (can 'Cancel' a trip? You need quite a separate trip, to cancel the first to add
No Auto-Off / battery warning or indication. You can turn off the car and forgot to turn off the GPS as well.
-It is not clear how TTS (text to speech - speaks street names). Box makes it claims it does, but you need a computer less pleasant voice for this work set)
No easy POI search. Each search randomly pulls up positions, no clear categories (gas, grocery, etc). POI items are very abstract ... and no, I do not manually enter a few. When I am at an undisclosed location, I need a good search function!
-It broke after 2 days use very low.

Summary: Spend extra on larger memory
Works great for U.S. & Canada only. If you want other maps dont buy it. It will hold more than one card at a time. Got it for christmas I have the Western Europe map from the website for 80,00, the device is not working well with Windows 7 now I have no cards in my work unit. Tom Tom says that they do not refund the fee and the Western Europe map I cannot install Us & Canada back on the device. If you are only going to make it big in the states to use unit. For more cards to go somewhere else.

Summary: Tom Tom XL

I found that this is a good product in its time, but is now somewhat outdated. The screen is less user friendly than the current models and smaller. It was the largest screen available when I bought it, but things change over time.

Summary: TomTom better than most others
I have used several different GPS systems and TomTom is the best by far. The Magellan I were not all the addresses where they should be (too close to a mile times, although exactly have the device because i dont let them think that a mistake as the fly). The Garmin rotation leaving some things to be desired. The voice would say, turn left, if the card would either jump to the right or even straight. Although Garmin is the best their handheld units have questions about praise.

The TomTom did not lead me astray. Directions are (clear and concise, and given far enough in advance). The country is awesome guide takes the guess work out of the confusing exits in Biggers four rural areas (eg, Baltimore). The IQ-routes can be good for only one or two trips start quicker to find routes. The ability to be placed in your own map corrections, a god send too. I use the unit for about two months and I have speed limits that are false, and a few newer roads, which recently installed and didn't find it on the most recent quarterly map. He also warns you if your route carpool lanes, toll roads, or dirt roads on your route and gives you the opportunity to avoid them. Overall, the most for your money.

Summary: TomTom XL 340 4.3

I have heard many different opinions on the TomTom GPS and I must say that was all that I heard correctly. The unit I bought was a great buy, but I do not suffer from all corners on quality. The device works perfectly out of the box and provided installation worked perfectly on the dashboard of my car. Programming directions was simple and the device was working properly.

I have very much pleased with this device. It's more than exceeded my expectations and is surprisingly accurate. Particularly like to do me the ability to route on the computer with the TomTom software and then upload them onto the device. The battery lasts about two hours and is well suited for most day trips.
